Monument Fire Center prescribed burn: Day two operations underway

(MONUMENT, Colo.) — The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) began test fires on day two of the Monument Fire Center prescribed burn on Thursday, June 13. The public should expect to see smoke throughout the day, especially east of I-25 between Denver and Colorado Springs, and in the town of Monument.

At one point on Thursday afternoon, the USFS wrote on its X page (formerly known as Twitter), that ignitions were paused but shortly thereafter resumed.
