Lockheed Martin lands $2.27B deal with NASA, NOAA

DENVER (KDVR) — Lockheed Martin in Littleton was selected to help NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration develop more accurate weather forecasts.

Lockheed Martin is located all over the U.S., but the contract selected the Littleton location to build the weather satellite constellation known as NOAA’s Geostationary Extended Observations (GeoXO).

The goal of the constellation is to take observations of the ocean and air pollution, produce more accurate weather forecasts and address environmental issues and challenges that threaten the economy and safety, according to Lockheed Martin’s press release.
