Kyle Freeland pitched an absolute gem for his final home start of a lost Rockies season.

Colorado snapped its five-game losing streak at Coors Field on Tuesday in a 3-1 victory over the Nationals. Freeland held Washington scoreless into the seventh — throwing strikes on 62-of-91 pitches — before he walked in his lone earned run of the night.

Trevor Story blasted a 475-foot solo homer in the fifth to help bring Colorado’s offense to life.

The Rockies (72-85) close out their final homestand of the season Wednesday against the Nationals with an opportunity to clinch their three-game series.

Freeland shut the Nationals down on Tuesday with soft contact — 15 forced ground/fly balls — and consistently worked out of early-inning traffic. Then Freeland retired the Nationals in order…
