Florida’s spring game got off to a shaky start Thursday night and did not improve much offensively.
The Gators failed to score during the opening quarter of an Orange and Blue game for the first time since 2012. The Orange team’s 10-7 win was the lowest-scoring spring game since the school began to keep records in 1996.
The previous low was 13-10 in 2011, offensively challenged Will Muschamp’s first season in Gainesville.
An encouraging effort on defense and a vanilla offensive game plan played a role Thursday.
Quarterback Jack Miller III said the Gators essentially ran, “Day 1 install.”
Whatever the case, the offensive slough did not inspire confidence as coach Billy Napier ended his second spring in Gainesville and pushed to move past a 6-7 2022 season.
